CQT Concepts - Active Threat Response
CQT Concepts & Active Threat Response
📍 Location: Provo, Utah
📅 Dates: October 17th, 18th, & 19th ( 3 seats left) - December 5th, 6th, & 7th ( SOLD OUT )
⏱ Duration: 30 Hours Total – 10 Hours Per Day
Course Overview
This 3-day, 30-hour immersive experience focuses on the full spectrum of Close Quarters Tactics (CQT) and Active Threat Response — combining individual and team-level movement, threat recognition, physical performance, and decision-making in confined spaces.
The curriculum is broken into three integrated phases:
🔹 Phase 1 – Fundamentals of CQT Tactics
You’ll build the foundation of how to navigate and dominate close quarters environments with a carbine and pistol. Topics include:
Room entries and solo/team movement
Maintaining situational awareness under stress
Communication and coordination with teammates and authorities
Establishing dominance and retaining the upper hand in lethal force scenarios
🔹 Phase 2 – Hard Skills: Fitness & Marksmanship
On Day 2, students will report to Tactical Cowboy Headquarters for a team-based workout focused on fitness under stress, coordination, and physical accountability.
Following the workout, we’ll transition to the shooting range to push close quarters marksmanship with both rifle and pistol — focusing on speed, precision, transitions, and delivering under pressure.
👉 Bring 300 rounds each for pistol and carbine, with at least 3 magazines per platform.
🔹 Phase 3 – Advanced Scenarios & Force-on-Force
Once the core skills are set, we escalate. Students will:
Engage in multi-threat and friendly rescue scenarios
Be placed in high-stress, real-time decision-making drills
Execute dynamic maneuvers during force-on-force exercises
Be evaluated on threat ID, communication, movement, and effective action under pressure
Every evolution is designed to solidify your ability to think and act decisively in a real-world critical incident.

Reviews
Gabe - This training was outstanding and truly beneficial for us as law enforcement and SWAT. I was initially worried with having civilians going through the course with us that we would not get as much training value from it but the Tactical Cowboy team made sure that we got the reps in and training we needed. We learned some valuable stuff from TCTS to take back not only to our team but to the entire department. These guys are true professionals and they are very passionate about training others.
Andy - I went to the 1-4 Man CQB Course out in Dacono, CO and it was AWESOME! They really break the curriculum down into bite sized chunks and build upon the basics. It’s a great course in teamwork, working under stress, and the reality of close quarters combat. It’s all about training and repetition, and these guys really put you through reps. Nothing but good things to say, so if you haven’t gone to a course yet, sign up now!
Jeff - The most pertinent training availiable today from one of the most experienced and broad knowledge based mentors of the protector/duty mindset. Our citizens and law enforcement agencies are in good hands with TCTS, Highly recommended. -Mentorship leading the way.
Walter - It was my first time training with Tactical Cowboy and I’ll tell you, it will not be my last. Devin and the team aren’t just professional, they actually want you to leave better, in short, they care. Each mentor will hold you accountable where needed and will break down complex ideas into small digestible / learnable parts.
Take a class, join their community, be a part of what they are doing. You will not be disappointed. Here’s to many more classes, thanks Tactical Cowboy and team.
Aaron - I would consider myself as a novice to firearms/tactics. I have never attended any firearms training before Tactical Cowboy. The class structure was extremely beneficial to myself (a new shooter) while seasoned guys were also learning and refining their tactics. I was able to keep up with the class structure and the instructors were extremely patient allowing me to learn without feeling like "the dumb guy in the gun store". I highly recommend these guys. Solid, professional and very good instructors. I can confidently say i feel very comfortable with all concepts taught and look forward to more advanced training with these guys in the near future.
