Step 0: Brand New to Handguns?
If you are brand new to pistols, we strongly recommend starting with Beginner Handgun or Handgun 1 courses offered by the Ready Gunner training staff before entering the American Defender Series. If you’d prefer a private setting, then please reach out & inquire right away.

Step 1: Foundations
EDC Pistol – Foundations
Date: March 12th and 26th
Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Cost: $400 per participant
Location: Ready Gunner, Orem, UT
The Foundations course is the required entry point into the American Defender Series.
This class establishes the core fundamentals of concealed carry pistol work. All instruction is conducted entirely from concealment, focusing on safe, efficient, and repeatable mechanics.
Key Focus Areas:
Concealed draw fundamentals
Grip, recoil control, and trigger management
Accuracy and accountability standards
Reloads from concealment
Building confidence with your everyday carry pistol
Required Equipment (All American Defender Courses):
Concealed-carry pistol
Quality concealed holster
One concealed magazine carrier
At least five (5) pistol magazines
500 rounds of pistol ammunition
Eye protection
Hearing protection
All required gear can be available at Ready Gunner.

Step 2: Manipulations
EDC Pistol – Manipulations
Date: April 16th
Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Cost: $400 per participant
Location: Ready Gunner, Orem, UT
The Manipulations course focuses on complete weapon system mastery.
Students will learn to efficiently run their pistol when it goes empty, experiences malfunctions, or is operated under non-ideal conditions — all from concealment.
Key Focus Areas:
Emergency and proactive reloads
Malfunction identification and clearance
Efficient gun handling under stress
Maintaining accountability in non-ideal conditions
Cost: $400 per participant
Prerequisite: Completion of EDC Pistol – Foundations

Step 3: Applications
EDC Pistol – Applications
Date: April 30th
Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Cost: $400 per participant
Location: Ready Gunner, Orem, UT
The Applications course pushes students into dynamic, performance-based concealed carry work.
This course integrates movement, speed, and decision-making while holding students to strict accuracy standards.
Key Focus Areas:
Shooting on the move
Positional and environmental shooting
Balancing speed and precision
Applying EDC skills under pressure
Cost: $400 per participant
Prerequisite: Completion of Foundations and Manipulations

Steve - I began as a novice gun owner a few years ago. Last year I was smart enough to find Devin. He's a superb instructor in so many ways. He instills self confidence by focusing on the positive aspects of what I'm doing. He's a gifted instructor in that he also points out aspects of my shooting that can be improved or need correction. Yet he does so in a way that inspires me to strive higher rather than simply finding fault. Without exception for the past year throughout my many sessions with him I have improved my handgun skills send knowledge. Learn from the best. Devin is awesome- the way we used to use that word!
Gordon - I’ve grown up around guns, never in my wildest dreams would I imagine how informative a class like this would be! The TCTS crew couldn’t be more amazing. Their open and welcoming demeanor really brings you into the environment. I had folks of all walks in my class. The mentor first mentality really shined through in the 1:2 instructor student ratio so they could curtail training to the individual not just the class! No “tacticool” attitudes at all! I can’t stress how welcoming they are. At the end of the class not only had I improved but it was glaringly obvious the whole group had too. I’ve already signed up for my next class. 11/10 would recommend!
Joe - If you want to learn building blocks to be an expert in using your gun and protecting yourself and family… look no further than the Tactical Cowboy crew. Total killers in providing a great program (I recommend the 1:1 lessons as well)
Geoff - More important than how nice your gun is or how many rounds you have is knowing how to use them! Devin taught us not only how to properly them but also how to use them in scenarios of self defense and home invasion. Spend your money on the best training!

The instructors are all experienced well trained professionals with impressive military, LEO, and competition backgrounds.
The class sizes are limited so that there is never more than two students to every instructor. Each class includes subjective grading of your performance so you know exactly what you need to do after the class to continue to develop the skills that were taught.
I am a LOT more proficient thanks to this team and look forward to continuing on this journey with them well into the future. From the beginner to the most advanced operator you can count on Tactical Cowboy to aid in your development.
